Job Summary
Annyalla Chicks is looking to appoint a Farm Operative to support the day-to-day running of our breeder farm in Methwold. You’ll work closely with the Farm Manager and Assistant Farm Manager as part of a collaborative team, helping us deliver the highest standards of bird welfare and farm operations
Key Responsibilities
Ensure high standards of animal welfare are maintained at all times
Monitor bird health, behaviour, and condition, reporting any concerns promptly
Carry out daily checks including feeding, watering, and general wellbeing
Assist with vaccination and routine health programmes as required
Collect hatching eggs regularly and safely
Ensure eggs are clean, stored correctly, and handled with care
Maintain accurate records of egg production and quality
Administer feed and monitor consumption levels
Adjust feeding systems in line with guidance and bird requirements
Identify and report any feeding or equipment issues
Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity standards across the site
Carry out routine cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses and equipment
Ensure equipment is functioning correctly and report faults
Follow strict biosecurity procedures to prevent disease spread
Control access to poultry areas and adhere to hygiene protocols
Use protective clothing and follow site entry/exit procedures
Report any abnormalities or issues to the Farm Manager
Support audits and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Follow all health & safety policies and procedures
Use equipment safely and report hazards
Ensure a safe working environment for self and others
Support catching, moving, or handling birds when required
Assist with general farm maintenance tasks
Be flexible to support operational needs, including weekends/shift work
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a farm, agricultural, or production environment is preferred but not essential
Experience working in roles requiring high levels of hygiene or compliance (e.g., food production) would be advantageous
Previous experience working with poultry or livestock
Knowledge of breeder farm operations or egg production
Understanding of health & safety regulations within agriculture
Experience using farm equipment or automated feeding systems
